Let's play pin the blame on the decade

These days you hear so much about how video games and gangsta rap is corrupting our nations youth, and I remember in the 90's, parents and politicians were lamenting R rated movies and heavy metal for causing youth violence.

It was way before my time, but it is interesting to read that the demon of the 50's and 60's was the comic book.

Back then, the media and beaurocrats somewhat successfully banned switchblades because they erroneously thought that they caused youth crime. Too bad this incongruous stigma of auto knives stands today. Nowadays, the same media/beaurocrats blame guns as an object which causes crime.

One day I hope that we replace these idiots with folks who know where to place the blame: square on the shoulders of the individual who commits the crime. We, as a nation, need to start holding our public servants accountable for this change, and ensure that we put violent criminals away for good.
