WASHINGTON -- Kenny Barnes's son was shot in the face and killed during a 2001 robbery, and he's upset that some in Congress want to eliminate Washington's strict gun control laws.As much as it sucks that his son got killed, I just can't side with him. I may get struck down by the Lord for this, but this is the first thing that comes to mind.

I believe that would be "cognitive dissonance".
Mr. Barnes' son was murdered, so he's upset that they're considering removing the ban on self defense.
I guess he figures if his son wasn't legally allowed to defend himself with the best tools available, why should anyone else be allowed to?
Cognitive dissonance is a better term. My jaw dropped when I read that line, and I still can't believe that it made the papers without any mention of how stupid it is.
