Ooops. Some will say that this is why homeowners shouldn't have guns in the first place, but getting the whole story shows that the victim stopped the criminal by using his gun, holding him at gunpoint until cops arrived.

Poor marksmanship by the officer, poor job of the homeowner making his identity known to the officer.
