Speaking of self serving politicians. . .

Professional douchebag Marion Barry has finally received the most minimal punishment imaginable for being a thieving, oppressive, tyrannical scumbag.

You want to know why this lunatic has served in public office for forty years? Because clueless people actually think that he cares about them, and deserves to stay in office. Here is a comment from your typical Marion Barry voter:
"i know that white people are happy i sad for barry but i know he care for black people but i think it time for him to step aside we are tired of him getting into troubleover and over but i love him for what he has done"

Yeah, he cares so much about black people that he'll gladly take $15,000 of your money and give it to his girlfriend, or he'll piss away millions on earmarks to corrupt organizations, or waste untold millions of taxpayer dollars in court costs because he stonewalls every investigation into those earmarks he gives, or the hookers he's with, or the drugs that he does, and a ton of other stuff that he's done on the public dime. Oh, and what's good for the goose isn't good for the gander, because he dodges the very taxes that your dumb ass has to pay out to keep his lifestyle going.

So go ahead and love him for everything he's done for you. Just know that because of your ignorance, you and the morons just like you are screwing everyone else over.

I'm absolutely convinced that people like this are the ones ensuring that these corrupt bastards get a constant revenue stream and a paycheck, and not the minority of smart, sensible people that live in the district.

And to think that y'all are begging for federal representation!

Giving ABC News some credit

For this fair and balanced article on open carry of firearms. No, really.

There is a cameo from the Brady Campaign, but not the two thirds of the article which we're all so used to. The focus of the article is on an everyday guy who has open carried for years. Writer Alice Gomstyn doesn't paint him in any negative light, and I'm perplexed as usually writers go out of their way to find some kook to use as the center of their piece.

Well done, ma'am!

Update: Watch the video on the page! Holy smokes! Y'all won't believe this, but a reporter for ABC News covered a Virginia open carry BBQ event, and not one single person was shot! Not one!

Also, the reporter (I didn't capture his name. Sorry about that) noted how the non violent humans with death machines on their hips were not braggarts; and when he asked them about what type of weapon they carried, was fascinated that not one person grabbed their gun, but rather just talked about it. Safety was noted as well.

He was wrong on one part, where he covered the states that "permit" open carry. The difference is that in states like Virginia, the right to bear arms openly is not "permitted" - it is not infringed.

And, as aways, Phillip Van Cleeve is frickin' awesome.

The Charitable Bill of Rights

Man, it drives me crazy to see this time after time after time, and not from drunken NASCAR fans or Tea Party protesters, but the elitist legacy media: Justices consider whether Second Amendment gives a right to have a gun at home.

I thought reporters, journalists, writers, editors, and the lot were supposed to be educated and smart. I remember learning in elementary school that the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights included in it, did not give anything, but merely told government what it could and could not do.

It doesn't give rights; it spells them out for government to see.

If the document went up in smoke today, nothing would theoretically change because the rights exist in the hearts and minds of the people. The whole damned reason that anyone bothered to write it down in the first place was so that, when push came to shove, the people would have something to stuff in the face of self serving representatives and biased Supreme Court Justices.

"Oh, you think so, do ya! Well, read em' and weep, bitches!"

Apparently, important stuff like this falls into the ditch from time to time. Shame on me: I really did think that the now legacy media, considering its main function of being a government watchdog, and taking into account how much face time they get with government officials, would have a thorough understanding of this most simple concept. That won't happen again.

HOA coming to you!

Make no mistake, this garbage is the camel's nose in the tent. Home Owners Associations are well known for being little tin pot dictatorships, and now the Virginia Senate is saying what the hell, might as well make it state wide.

Some problems here.

First is that, as pointed out in comments at the bottom of the article, in the case of letting the grass get tall enough to be an eyesore, the state is one of the worst offenders. Add to that all the foreclosures on houses, and it will add up to be a great big mess.

I have apologized more than once to my neighbor about my grass being too tall, as I used to travel so much that I wasn't around to cut it. Also, it rained so much last year that the grass not only grew super fast, but it made cutting it impossible. Such is life.

This stupid law, if passed, will be perfectly legal. I can hear the screams now about how "yada yada yada, I own my house and the county can't tell me to cut my grass!" Actually, you probably don't own your house, and the county can absolutely tell you that you have to cut your grass. Because the county holds the title to your house, they can collect taxes from you on it, and they can make up all kinds of arbitrary things to tell you to do. Because the county holds the title to your house, they are on the hook to protect it with the fire department, police, EMT, etc. That is their duty. You agreed to it when you bought your house. With that said, the county also holds the title to foreclosed homes, so they are on the hook to cut that grass. I don't know about the empty houses that have been foreclosed on in your neighborhood, but in mine the grass is so tall that you could hide a mechanized infantry battalion on a tenth of an acre. The grass is like four feet tall all summer long.

I see this as a death by a thousand cuts. If the county is struggling with their budget right now to the point where they're laying off Sheriff's deputies and fire fighters, there's no way they're going to pay someone to cut the grass. If I get a civil penalty for not cutting my grass, I'll happily pay it, and then take a leisurely drive around my neighborhood and find all the foreclosed houses that have tall grass, and I'll have a field day with the county taking them to task for it.

This stuff works both ways.

Virginia Dems have had enough with our gun law success

Now they've built a committee that is stacked in their favor to block them.

Any chair in a bar fight, I reckon.

While you're there, hit that poll to the right, if you don't mind.

This is some Reba McEntire material right here

A cop is gunned down by his angry wife.

Yikes!

Zero Intelligence Policy

The creators of Zero Tolerance Policies are doing a hell of a job of destroying this country. I'm sure, as always, that at the genesis of retarded laws like this are a legion of air-headed lawyers. You can count on that.

Here we have a high school student who, as far as we can tell, is an upstanding human being that loves his family and just wants to graduate and move on, but now is jammed up because some blow-hards in a board of supervisors meeting decided that toy guns were a menace worth ruining lives over.

Way to go guys. This would be the unintended consequences that people have been warning you about.

I don't know if there are such policies in my AO (wouldn't surprise me if there were), but if I knew a person who advanced such a stupid idea, I would not associate myself with them anymore.

Assault with a deadly pit bull

You ever notice that in every news story about a dog attacking anything, the dog in question is always a pit bull? Always. And this despite that a pit bull isn't actually a breed of dog; it's a label. Kinda like "Assault Thingies."

Interesting.

Anyways, this is one jacked up story.

The cop very well may have been arresting a legitimate scumbag, or maybe not for all I know, and I presume that he was not in uniform. Uniforms are very important. They help identify police officers as bonded servants of public safety, and not one of two gangbangers fighting in your back yard at 1 a.m. that needs the attention of your guard dog. If I saw two plain clothes dudes rolling around in my yard in the dark, I'm certainly not going to take one of them at their word that they're a police officer and, like most folks, probably couldn't tell what the hell that shiny thingie is that one of them is shining a flashlight at. I definitely wouldn't fire a gun up in the air, either.

I'm glad everyone survived that mess. Too bad for the dog though.

Update: To be clear, I'm not denouncing the American Pit Bull Terrier, or any of the Bull Terrier breeds, just the overarching term "pit bull" that is branded on any dog that is worthy of a newspaper article. Some ugly mutt bites a kid and all of a sudden it's "PIT BULL GOES ON FEEDING FRENZY AT DAY CARE CENTER!!!" The label "pit bull" is the "assault thingie" term of the canine reporting world.

She didn't see my sign

Didn't this woman know that schools are "Sword Free Zones?"

I thought I had already taken care of this.

Assault with a deadly SUV

It sure does happen.

The reason I thought this was worth a post is to point out how an everyday object like a Ford Expedition can be used to hurt people - either on purpose or through negligence.

It is often said by gun control folk that it takes special training far beyond the capabilities of the average person to handle a firearm. They fail to notice that with very limited training, people have been using extremely complex machines like automobiles without much problem. Sure, there are accidents with cars, but nobody disputes that they are here to stay, or that human beings generally can handle them.

Carry a firearm in a Wal-Mart?!?! John Q. Citizen can't possibly handle one around all those people! But a police officer can! They're highly trained!

But illegal aliens, teenagers, and the elderly are perfectly capable of driving towards each other on a narrow back road in 5,000 lb. SUVs while talking on a cellphone, with nothing but four inches of yellow paint separating them from crashing head on. Ever think about that?

Cars are complex and dangerous, but the populace does very well with them. Same goes for firearms.

Ahhh, gun bigots make it so easy

Ralph Fascitelli of Washington Ceasefire, an advocacy group that seeks to reduce gun violence, said allowing guns in coffeehouses robs residents of "societal sanctuaries."

"People go to Starbucks for an escape, just so they can get peace," Fascitelli said. "But people walk in with open-carry guns and it destroys the tranquility."

Wow. Mr. Fascitelli makes an interesting case. Where have we heard this before? Oh yeah, I'm definitely going there:
Samuel Bowers of White Knights, an advocacy group that seeks to suppress Blacks, said allowing Negros in coffeehouses robs residents of "societal sanctuaries."

"People go to Starbucks for an escape, just so they can get peace," Bowers said. "But Negros walk in and it destroys the tranquility."

Jerry Falwell of Thomas Road Baptist, an advocacy group that seeks to reduce gays, said allowing queers in coffeehouses robs residents of "societal sanctuaries."

"People go to Starbucks for an escape, just so they can get peace," Walt Kowalski said. "But zipper heads walk in and it destroys the tranquility."

Bigotry comes in all forms. Clowns like Peter Hamm and Ralph Fascitelli can't seem to find that point when they spew this sort of discriminating noise.

Like it or not, there were no "gunshots" from those carrying guns at Starbucks. That's because the gun control crowd is barking up the wrong tree by pushing to take away protected rights from peaceable human beings. And interestingly enough, this article cites the shooting of four Washington police officers in a coffee shop by a psychopathic scumbag as reason for gun control advocate motivation, as in why the Brady Campaign wants Starbucks to be a "gun free zone."

Seriously.

These people honestly confuse everyday citizens who carry a firearm to preserve their life, and the life of their family or community, with a lone crazy gunman with a long and violent criminal past that several states failed to put away behind bars where he belonged. I can't see how making the place gun free would have made the slightest difference. A guy who wants to engage four uniformed officers in some gunplay is not the kind of guy who would turn at the sight of a "gun free zone" sign.

Really though, I love to see these quotes from the gun control crowd because it means that they are not people of reason with a valid argument to contest; there is no need to even converse with them at all. They are bigots. They try to deny basic human rights - in this case protected by local, state, and federal law - from decent human beings because they do not agree with them. That strengthens our points because they have none.

Render unto Caesar

DC is still ticketing cars despite the meters being buried under snow.

Looking at it through the Common Law angle, the city is entitled to charge for parking whether the snow is there or not, although it is a dick thing to do. On the other hand, those who have shoveled their asses off because the city can't seem to clear the streets definitely have a claim to get that ticket money refunded.

Overall, those who live and thrive in the city ultimately agreed to this mess. It's Commerce.

Why we need strong gun laws

Because it's the only shot in the dark at stopping a violent murderer when Maryland accidentally releases him into the wild.

Oooops.

Of course I'm kidding about the gun law part, but Maryland is chock full of elitist politicos who have made it very hard to protect yourself from dangerous criminals in the belief that these laws will make it difficult for the dangerous criminal to get access to a weapon. It's a foolish belief.

Understandably accidents happen, but the millions of people in the area around the prison are now more vulnerable to this scumbag by being disarmed.

Update: Scumbag in question memorized another scumbags identification number. Pretty high tech prison system going on there.

Equipment Change Proposal

Today I decided to finally anchor my little gun safe to the floor. About six months ago I bought some Red Head Hex Sleeve Anchors to do this task, and I'm now in a huge predicament. So far only one of the pins has not completely failed:

Whomever designed these ridiculous pieces of shit deserves to spend a day in a big ass washing machine filled with Brillo pads and roofing nails. Morons.

So in my experience, these things have a 75% failure rate. What if hand grenades had a 75% failure rate? Marines would be pretty pissed off, no? How about your DVD player? How often does it fail? That's right, not very often. That's because they are generally engineered to do what they're supposed to do.

The knife industry is a perfect example of how good engineers build shit that is so over-engineered, it will probably not fail even if you use it like you're not supposed to over and over again. In the case of these Red Head pins, they are engineered by incompetent people to not even do exactly what the fuck they're designed to do one single time. Now I have one pin that's stripped because it couldn't stand the abusive tapping with a 16 oz. hammer that drives it into the concrete, and two pins that won't tighten because the design sucks and the pins spin in the expansion sleeve.

AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

No excuses, just fix it!!!

Next up, we have the Clorox wipes. The wipes themselves are amazing, and are quite handy around the house. The problem is that when you get down to the last 25% of the wipes in the jar, they knot up into a big ass clot that comes flying out in a spectacular mess. Getting a face full of bleach really pisses me off.

Just to put things into perspective, engineers can build an internal combustion engine, which is an amazing marvel of human accomplishment, but can't seem to get some wet paper to feed from a plastic tube. Have you ever seen a running engine without a valve cover? It's simply astonishing how everything is so precisely timed that an explosion can be harnessed, making it possible to power a two ton car up a hill or a fighter plane into the air. Now take a close look at this mess:

Not very astonishing, is it?

Hey clorox, how about fixing this mess. . .

Motivated Marines and Soldiers in Afghanistan

My wife grows tired of me asking if I can re-enlist into the Marines and go to Afghanistan. It's picture threads like this that make the hair on the back of my neck stand up, and want to re-enlist.

Get some!!

Rapists beware

Women these days are likely to be more than you bargained for.

Violent scumbag self destructs

Not much to complain about now.

Mind your scumbags, SC. Why this guy was out and about, free to roam around society to find a weapon and attempt to take another life, is my question.

It's a shame that since the courts failed to stop this threat, the scumbag had to do it for them.

DC carry movement

The locals are thrilled!

Same with park carry which is legal today.
“Residents of each of those jurisdictions have the responsibility -- have the duty -- to know and to educate themselves as to what those laws are,” Line added.
Indeed, they do. Know what you're doing out there and be the good example.

Hit those polls while you're there!

Playing with gunpowder is not for kids

Hopefully this kid goes home with all his parts.

I have to say, what kind of moron helps his nine year old fill an inert grenade with gunpowder, set a wick in it, and then just leave it in a flower pot for anyone to get ahold of?

That is negligence, pure and simple.

Parents that stupid should be tied up in the center of town for everyone to kick while on their way to get groceries.

A crack team of idiots discover what Americans already knew

Unbelievable!

CNN has discovered that Americans are. . . . get this folks. . . . pissed off at their government! Wow. I am truly shocked.

This whole time I thought that everyone was just tickled pink with the state of the union, and now an elite team of bumbling pollsters working for one of the most biased news organizations in the world has just ruined my world view.

You learn something new every day.
